Melody

A LYRICAL EXPLORATION OF MUSIC AND MEMORY TOLD THROUGH A JOURNEY HOME FROM WORK. JEMIMA FUSES SPOKEN WORD AND SONG TO EXPLORE HOW MUSIC ATTACHES ITSELF TO MEMORIES, PEOPLE AND PLACES. FROM FUNK AND SOUL TO FOLK MUSIC, JEMIMA TELLS A FUNNY, POIGNANT, STORY OF CHILDHOOD, DISPLACEMENT, GROWING UP, LOVE, MIGRATION, HEART-BREAK AND JOY.

Melody is co-written and directed by Lucy Allan and is an Unholy Mess production.

Melody won the 2015 Buxton Fringe Spoken Word Award and was runner-up in the 2016 Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Show.

Melody toured nationally in 2016 including to STANZA Poetry Festival, The Barbican Gallery,  Latitude Festival, Cheltenham Literature Festival, Aldeburgh Pumphouse Festival, The Tobacco Factory and The Bike Shed.

Although we’ve wound Melody down now (to make new shows!), it could always be revived on demand. Do get in touch if you’d like that to happen.
